Chamber “Serves-Up” Successful New Food-Based Event That Was Tops With Guests
The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce welcomed attendees to the FIRST EVER “Top Chef Challenge: The Best of Greater Haverhill’s Chefs, Food, Wine & Craft Beer” on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Bradford Country Club. The event was Round One of a series of cooking competitions which highlight the culinary excellence in the Greater Haverhill area.
Attendees were treated to cooking demonstrations and food samplings of three locally renowned chefs, as well as stationary and passed hor d’oeuvres with beer & wine samplings from Moonlight Meadery, Lucia’s Bodega, Sensi Wines, LaBelle Winery, The Cork Stop and Beara Irish Brewing. In addition there were giveaway goodies, FREE cookbooks courtesy of Keon’s Bistro and musical entertainment.
Competing Chefs included: Chef Alan Boisvert from Keon’s 105 Bistro in downtown Haverhill; Chef Tom Grella of Prelude Restaurant in Ayers Village Methuen; and Chef Laura Henry-Zoubir of Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta. Each dish presented was a delight to the palate making for the selection of a winner challenging and exciting. Ultimately, the crowd favorite was selected as Laura Henry-Zoubir who presented an original recipe for a spring vegetable samosa with a sweet & spicy mint chutney. The dish was both vegan and gluten free.
The Top Chef Challenge: Round Two will consist of three NEW chefs focusing on main dish entrees. That event has been scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. The event will again feature live cooking demonstrations with three renowned local chefs, voting by a panel of judges & the audience, wine & beer tasting and an array of stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres stations. Tickets are $50 each and will be available beginning in June.
