central-catholic-catwalk-4-cancer-2017   Students from Central Catholic High School presented Laura Rossi, Director of Oncology Services, and Sarah Gnerre, Vice President of Development, with a $16,500 check for the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) that was raised from the annual Catwalk4Cancer – 10 Years Tonight, Celebrate the Fight. The annual Catwalk4Cancer event, which was founded by a Central Catholic student in 2008, was organized and hosted with the help of more than 250 students. More than 1,000 people, including students, families, faculty members, and friends from local business and the community, gathered to raise funds to help eradicate cancer and to support those fighting cancer. Funds raised were directed to Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with BIDMC and Lucy’s Love Bus, a nonprofit organization that helps children with cancer obtain treatments such as acupuncture, massage, horseback riding and art and music therapy. On May 19th, students who organized the event presented the check to Anna Jaques. “This runway show has raised a quarter of a million dollars since its inception in 2008,” shared Earline Tweedie, Director of Campus Ministry at Central Catholic High School. “On behalf of the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with BIDMC, we applaud the incredible efforts of the students of Central Catholic High School. Our patients live and work right here in the community so these funds will directly impact cancer patients undergoing treatment, including those who may be your own neighbors or loved ones,” shared Mark Goldstein, President & CEO of Anna Jaques Hospital. Also contributing to Anna Jaques as part of the event were: James Sarcione of Allstate Insurance in Haverhill, and TJX Company based in Framingham.

About the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with BIDMC
Since opening its doors in February of 2015, the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has continued to raise the bar of comprehensive cancer care offered to patients locally. Together, the two institutions offer a full array of community-based cancer services in Newburyport and when needed, advanced treatment options and specialists at BIDMC in Boston. The program offers a committed team that works together to diagnose and direct the treatment of all types of cancers. Patients no longer have to travel to Boston to have world-class cancer specialists on their care team.
