Navy Band Northeast Brass Quintet in Haverhill, MA! Performance at NECC, Thursday March 9 at 7pm Newport, RI: The Navy Band Northeast Brass Quintet, Top Brass, comes to Haverhill, MA with a free performance at Northern Essex Community College at 7pm on Thursday, March 9. Known for patriotic chamber music, Top Brass pleases crowds with traditional classical works for brass quintet as well as favorite military marches. Northern Essex Community College is located at 110 Elliott Street, Haverhill, MA 01830. This concert is free and open to the general public. The Top Brass Quintet’s performances are appreciated by audiences of all ages. This quintet performs a wide range of musical styles encompassing traditional and modern brass literature to Dixieland and patriotic marches. Quintet performances range from public concerts and educational clinics to small military ceremonies and receptions. Performances by Top Brass are available upon request. Navy Band Northeast Director Lieutenant Gregory Fritz is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a 1995 graduate of the University of Akron where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree, and a 2002 graduate of the University of New Orleans where he received a Master of Education Administration degree. Fritz enlisted in the Navy in 1998 and served twelve years as a percussionist. His duty stations included U.S. Navy Steel Drum Band, Navy Band New Orleans, Navy Band Great Lakes, and 6th Fleet Band. He was commissioned in 2010 after completing the Limited Duty Officer/Chief Warrant Officer Academy at Newport, R.I. His initial officer assignment was to U.S. Navy Band Washington, D.C. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards). Established in 1974, Navy Band Northeast is based on board NAVSTA Newport and is one of 11 official U.S. Navy Bands worldwide, providing musical support for military ceremonies, recruiting, morale and retention programs, and community relations. This group of 30 professional Navy musicians supports more than 300 engagements annually throughout an 11-state area of responsibility, performing regularly for high-ranking military and civilian dignitaries, Navy Recruiting, public outreach and awareness efforts, and partnership in education programs throughout the Northeast United States. The primary components of Navy Band Northeast: Marching and Ceremonial Bands; popular music group, Rhode Island Sound; brass quintet, Top Brass and woodwind trio, Crosswinds. Other units consist of various smaller protocol ensembles: Solo Pianist; Solo Guitarist; Jazz Combo, solo Vocalist and solo Guitarist. All ensembles perform a wide range of music from patriotic, classical, contemporary, big band swing, country, and the latest top-40 hits.
