Greater Haverhill Chamber Offering Golf Readiness Course This Spring
This is the year you learn to golf!
The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a wonderful new opportunity for members interested in learning (or becoming more involved) in the game of golf. The new spring offering will consist of a series of four classes throughout the month of April. Classes will consist of one half hour of classroom instruction and one full hour of hands-on instruction per date.
This “Learn to Golf” Program will run each Monday in April (April 6, 13, 20 & 27) from 6:00—7:30pm at Whirlaway Golf Center. The hands on instruction will include 1 large bucket of balls/person (additional buckets/time available at student’s expense) and will include exercises, drills and mental aspects of the game. The classroom instruction will touch on rules, terms, etiquette and equipment.
Why is golf important to the Chamber’s members and the business community? Because so much “business” can take place on the golf course. Not only can deals be ironed out and agreed upon during the extended time together on the greens, but it is a fabulous way to get a sense of another business person’s character. According to an article in Economist Magazine a round of golf is a fantastic way to observe how a potential business partner reacts under pressure, makes strategic plays and most importantly displays honesty and integrity even when “nobody is watching.” In short, it’s another business tool!
If you are interested in honing your game of golf before the tournament season begins contact the Chamber office for additional details. Classes will be limited to sixteen participants per session. The cost to register is $125 and includes all on-course lessons, equipment rentals, and classroom instruction. Workshop will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Call 978-373-5663 or email Beverly@haverhillchamber.com to reserve your space.
