UMass Lowell Innovation Hub and Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce celebrate Small Business Week with events at the iHub, May 6-10
HAVERHILL – The UMass Lowell Innovation Hub Haverhill and the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce present a weeklong series of events and programming to support, engage and educate Merrimack Valley businesses, startups and entrepreneurs as part of the nationally-recognized Small Business Week. We invite businesses, entrepreneurs and the community to attend these events.
Small Business Week events include a workshop May 8 on branding and marketing titled Visibility=Opportunity, presented by Bobbie Carlton, an entrepreneur and founder Carlton PR and Marketing, Mass Innovation Nights and Innovation Women. Other events include a grant writing seminar, a social media workshop and a lunch and learn on business banking with TD Bank.
On May 10, a small business roundtable luncheon will be held at the iHub featuring three Haverhill-based companies that will share their challenges, successes and goals for the future. The featured businesses are: Alpha E Consulting, a full-service communications firm; 1620 Workwear, a clothing manufacturer that specializes in men’s work wear; and Cakes by Erin, a local baker known for her elaborate and creative cakes who has appeared on (and won) several Food Network baking competitions.
National Small Business Week is the Small Business Administration’s annual celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation.
“Small Business Week is a great opportunity to recognize the many successful businesses in Haverhill while offering resources for startups and entrepreneurs to continue their path forward with innovative ideas,” said Tom O’Donnell, senior director of Innovation Initiatives at UMass Lowell and director of the Innovation Hub. “Haverhill has a thriving small business community and we’re excited to grow that network through the iHub and UMass Lowell’s resources.”
“I have a lot of respect for the folks who will be leading these meetings. They represent some of the most talented people in our business community. A great mix of entrepreneurs and subject experts.” Said Dougan Sherwood, President/CEO of The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce.
Haverhill Small Business Week events are sponsored by TD Bank, MTM Insurance and Haverhill Bank.
